April 2017
Dear Parents,
I hope this letter finds everyone well. G8 Chinese students are learning about school life, including school subjects, the class schedules, and how to express the reasons they like/dislike a subject. Students recently have made a survey of school life. They invited students at Oak Middle School and students of a Taiwan middle school to do the survey. They have analyzed their results and have written an essay on it. Soon,
students will be able to discuss their school life with others at the end of this chapter. For the cultural aspect of the chapter, we will talk about school life in China and Taiwan. Students will be able to compare and contrast their school life here with school life in Asia.
Last month, G8 Chinese students had an opportunity to meet Chinese visiting students at Sherwood. They spent a hour with the exchange students using Chinese to communicate. They were excited to see how their proficiency in Chinese improved to the point where they could talk with native speakers. However, they are also aware that they still have much to learn in the future.
Once again, I would like to remind you that the event “Under Chinese Lanterns” has been rescheduled to Friday, April 28th. I cannot wait to see students’ performances and meet you at the event. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions and concerns regarding your student’s Chinese study. Thank you for your continuous support!
The planning for the field trip to Boston Chinatown is set at this moment. I’ll give a behavioral guide at the end of this month to prepare students for the trip. I believe we will have a great experience on the field trip.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions and concerns regarding your student’s Chinese study. I am always happy to schedule a meeting with you if needed. Thank you again for your continuous support.
Sincerely,
ChinHuei Yeh
